As we begin the school year again, Mr. Stephenson’s Sixth Class were busy preparing the flower beds in the school garden for our new ‘Confirmation Garden’ project! This project has been inspired by the ‘Cultivating Hope – Caring for God’s Creatures’ initiative which reinforces Pope Francis’ message in the Laudato Si encyclical letter, “Restore Our Common Home.”

Firstly, we reviewed the prayers that we knew already in class and discussed all of God’s wonderful, natural creations. We then paid a trip to Whitepoint Strand, collected some rocks to create our own prayer stones and even had time to stop and have our lunch at the beach! Finally, we cleaned up and weeded the flower beds, turned over the soil and added some fertiliser and gave the boxes a fresh coat of paint.

In the next few weeks, we will begin planting some bulbs to represent both our growth throughout Sixth Class and our commitment to looking after our planet. Keep an eye on this website for some more updates in the coming weeks!
