After a very wet and cold winter we were glad to be able to take advantage of the good weather this past week to make a start on our buddy benches. These benches were generously gifted to us by the Parents Council and were made by two very talented Leaving Cert students, Luke and Patrick, from Coláiste Muire over the summer.  We are so looking forward to having them all decorated and ready for use in each of the yards.

The Student Council have been very busy bees the last couple of weeks painting the first 3 of the benches and they are looking fantastic, adding a beautiful splash of colour to the yard!

There have been lots of helpers involved in the process so far. Ms Scannell’s 6th class helped  out by sanding the benches to get them ready for priming and 5th class pupil Ciara and two of our SNAs, Karen and Maria, helped wipe the benches clean after sanding. Then our Student council and some students from the junior classes painted the undercoats and colourful designs over a few afternoons with the help of some teachers who kindly volunteered.

We are using designs picked by the Student Council from our design competition held earlier this year. A design from each class level was picked and the winners will be involved in painting along with other students across the school. It’s been a real team effort and we are very grateful for the help so far. We will be making a start on the remaining benches this week and can’t wait to see all the finished benches!
