This year in Bunscoil Rinn an Chabhlaigh, the children had great fun learning how to use prepositions in conversational language. Positional language refers to the place where something or someone is, often in relation to other things, such as over, under, beside or beneath. Using a practical approach and concrete resources the children had great fun learning collaboratively!
Click on the following video to observe the junior infants using dramatic dialogue to develop their positional language skills! This video features Anastasia from Ms.McCall’s class and Emily and Martyna from Ms. Spriggs’ class. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=to_wia6R2gw&feature=youtu.be
Valentine from Ms. Falvey’s senior infants class is photographed demonstrating excellent listening skills by positioning a tennis ball in the exact place necessary according to the EAL teacher’s instruction. On this day, practical positional language activities were conducted in the school hall as well as the school yard.
Pictured thirdly is a super example peer-learning! Maksymilian Palczynski and Maks Ocvirk both from Ms. Falvey’s senior infants class had lots of fun placing food cards in certain rooms of the home in funny, silly and random places. Both boys constructed perfect positional language sentences and their comprehension skills were very impressive also! Learning through laughter is inevitable!!!
