We have been very busy in Coiscéim in the month of February learning all about the people that help in our community!

We got to visit Cobh Garda Station where we learned a lot about the work carried out by the Gardaí everyday. We got a chance to try on their uniform, sit in their van and have our finger prints taken. We want to say a huge thank you to all of the Gardaí that taught us so much on our visit!

We also had a visit from an Ambulance and two paramedics. We got a chance to use the lift to get onto the ambulance, sit on the trolley and have a look around inside. Thank you to Denise and Denise for kindly showing us around and teaching us all about their work.

We had a visit from two nurses. Thank you to Niamh and Síle for visiting with all of their equipment. They taught us all about what we need to do if we visit Accident and Emergency in the hospital. They showed us some x-rays and we played the patient and they demonstrated how to put on casts and bandages.

Finally we had a visit from the local fire brigade. Thank you to Paul and Glenn who visited the school with the fire engine. We had a great time sitting in the fire engine and trying on their helmets. We even got a chance to use the hose!

A special thank you to the parents and the members of our community that helped make these visits possible!! It provided us with a huge opportunity to generalise our skills outside of the classroom and gave us a chance to get to know members of our local community!!
