In 4th class this week we were looking at light pollution! We discussed natural and artificial light sources and why we need lights at night-time. Our main focus was: What is light pollution?

We learned about the ways in which light pollution was a negative thing, how light was escaping into our environment and the effect that it can have!

We set up an experiment to look at light pollution in groups. We enjoyed predicting the outcome, investigating using different light sources and testing a variety of materials.

Scientists in the making!

We added different designs to our materials to show how light can escape including crepe paper, tin foil, card and plastic!

We couldn’t see much with the lights on!

We saw fantastic results when the lights were turned off! 🙂
