Hello and welcome to our Student Council page!
How were they elected?
In September students were invited to canvas in their classrooms, which they did with such enthusiasm and imagination! As part of the campaign, they made speeches and created wonderful posters and signs to convince their classmates to vote for them. They talked about what the student council’s role would be and why they would be the ideal person for the job. Students from 3rd to 6th class then voted in a secret ballot and a candidate from each class was elected.
Meet our Council!
As first order of business the council elected a Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson, and Secretaries among themselves. The members of the council are:

The Council meet once a month and meetings are facilitated by the student council liaison teachers Ms. Corcoran and Mr Stephenson. It has been a great experience so far for the students as they learn more about the different roles in the council, about decision making, communicating, compromising, planning and the many skills involved in holding meetings.
The Student Council offers a wonderful opportunity for all students in Bunscoil Rinn an Chabhlaigh to have a voice. The Council hopes to make many positive changes in our school and to continue to organise fun and worthwhile events and activities for students.
Stay tuned for future updates!
