Maths: Problem Solving

This month marked the most entries ever received for our Maths: Problem Solving Competition. It is amazing to see the children getting excited about solving equations.

Pictured below are Cian and Robyn from Ms O’Neill’s Junior Infants who solved January’s Problem correctly. They used concrete materials to help with their workings out.

Next up are Julie and Alicja who are collecting a prize on behalf of their friend Nicola in Ms Paula O’Sullivan’s 2nd class. Nicola used art as a means to figure out the sum.

Our 3rd and 4th class winners are from Ms McCarthy’s Senior Infants class. A massive congratulations to Iago, Dawson and Fionn for figuring out the problem. Iago and his friends used team-work as a method for figuring out.

Our 5th and 6th class winner comes from Ms Falvey’s 5th class- Keelan O’Malley. Keelan was very clear and neat in his working out of the problem. Maith thú Keelan!

Mr Kiely’s 5th class had 12 correct entries earning them the coveted ‘Ice-Cream Party’ for their class on a date of their choosing! Comhghairdeas libh!!

Please find below our Problems for the next fortnight!
