Junior Infants had great fun learning about shape names! The children identified lots of different 2D shapes in our EAL classroom including a pink triangle, a green heart, a blue square, a yellow star, an orange rectangle and a purple oval. The children matched shape names to shape examples in a sorting activity. They used the teacher’s pointer in a question and answer session. In the pictures below, Rafaela is answering questions posed by Oliwia. The children loved taking turns playing teacher! Every child was awarded a star sticker for excellent speaking and listening  skills …  these shapes were a big hit!!! ⭐️

Working together to create an Easter chick made up of lots of 2D shapes was greatly enjoyed by all! 🐥The children first identified all shape names and then categorised all mini ovals, all mini circles and all mini triangles. Body parts such as head, eyes, beak, wings and feet were labelled and their colours and shapes were discussed. The children will create another Easter character soon … I wonder what shapes they’ll need to use next time?!! 🐣 …
