Our Senior Infant classes have been focusing on the the themes of Food, Homes and The Farm in Aistear over the last couple of months. They had great fun exploring and learning more about the topics through play and discussion.

With The Farm we learned all about life on the farm, daily chores and the different produce that comes from the farm and we looked at how farming has changed over the years, for example, with the introduction of more machinery.

We even had a real farmer, Mary, who is a friend of Ms Scannell, come in to tell us all about growing up living and working on a farm. The children had lots of interesting questions to ask her and really enjoyed hearing about farm life first hand.

The children have enjoyed being creative and using their imaginations to role play in the Pretend Play corner (Farmer’s Market, The Fruit and Veg Shop and the Home Corner) and build houses and animal pens in the Construction station among other fun learning activities.

This play gives the children a wonderful opportunity to build relationships, build and develop their language and explore their creativity.
