This year at Bunscoil Rinn an Cabhlaigh we are doing a programme called Food Dudes. This programme encourages children to stay healthy by eating fruit and vegetables.

Junior infants to first class had sixteen days of fruit and vegetables. There were stickers and rewards for every child and Food Dudes video episodes and letters.

Second class to sixth class had eight days of fruit and vegetables. They had also rewards and Food Dudes video episodes and letters.

The junior classes had a sticker chart. This meant that each time the children had both fruit and vegetables in their lunchboxes they got to stick a sticker on the chart.

The senior classes also had a chart, but instead of stickers they had to tick on the chart.

After an amount of stickers/ticks, each child gets a certificate.

We had lots of fruit and vegetables such as: apples, corn, bananas, mandarins, peppers, cucumbers, grapes and carrots delivered to our school every morning. We are going to have more fruit & veg delivered in May.

Service training for Food Dudes was provided to one teacher in each school. The teacher from our school was Ms Thompson, our fifth class teacher
